After dehydrating 9 trays of pumpkin puree I ended up with 2 full pint jars of pumpkin flour. The rest of the pumpkin went to 12 large pumpkin muffins, one 9" and two 8" pumpkin pies and 7 bags of 1 1/2 cups of pumpkin puree. The pumpkin muffin recipe takes 1 1/2 cups of pumpkin puree.
I'd think using more bland squash would be a good choice for certain uses so it doesn't overpower other flavors. Use different ones for different recipes.
true, but some are more flavorful and colorful as compared to others which might not have much going for them nutritionally.
i have some squash here that are green seeded hull less seeds. very good seeds for roasting or eating raw but the flesh of the squash is fairly tasteless even when cooked up so i'd rather feed that to the worms instead of doing anything with it in cooking.
