LOL They aren't even all there yet! I still have to add the Welsummers, the New Hampshire Reds, and I'm getting Salmon Faverolles FINALLY this year!

Plus we have the ducks, and I didn't put them on there since I am not breeding them and only have them for eggs. My friend thinks I should still put a page up for the ducks, but we'll see.

I feel tired, and we haven't done much today. I think I need a nap. Kids had pediatrician appts. today so we did that.

Went to Lowes and picked up some lumber for our NEW FRONT PORCH!!!!!! I am excited for that, I haven't had a front porch in 4 years, and well, it just wasn't a priority I guess. We aren't building a big one, just an 8x8 deck out there for now, something we can sit on and relax in the evenings this summer....sip on sweet tea or coffee...oh I can't wait!

Also picked up some little pieces for a chicken coop, small one, that I am working on. I am copying a design I saw at Meyers that I loved, but figured I could build it cheaper than buying it from them. Turns out I was right. To make it even better, DH picked out a hammer and measuring tape just for me, as I am always complaining about having to ask him where his is. :D I HAVE MY OWN HAMMER!!!!!!

:celebrate

Today is also annual tree planting day. DH is still out there planting the trees. We just had the kids plant their trees. We do this every year. The kids love that they get to plant trees with dad.

So now I'm off, so I can help DH plant the last 60 trees LOL

Now you just need to carve your name in the handle of that hammer so HE won't steal YOURS!!!

I love a porch - with a swing! (Our chickens love it too!) :gig

A porch is a great place to sit at the end of the day to count your blessings and recap the day. ;)

Go back and read your post and you will realize WHY you need a nap.:D
LOLOLOL OK well, it didn't seem like we did much. :/

DH finished planting the trees without me. These are only 3 year old pine trees, so they are pretty small yet. DH says not all of them will make it, but I've high hopes that they will!

While DH finished planting the trees, the kids and I took off out front and cleaned up the area where our deck will be. We'll be framing it in tomorrow. Don't have the planking yet, we'll just be framing it in and going back for the planking.

Here's a pic of the coop I am going to try to make. I am sure mine won't be identical to this one, but you'll have an idea of what I'm aiming for.

The hardest part is trying to decide which chickens are going in there....I'm going back and forth between Elizabeth and Monroe, or my BLRW, or my Welsummers.... decisions decisions! I am pretty sure this is only going to house at the maximum 2-3 LF. Course, if it turns out well, I could always build another.........

At any rate, it's what I'm going to be using as a breeding coop.

Here's a pic of HRH Elizabeth's first egg next to a Buff Orpington Egg. :)

I'm hoping her eggs get a bit darker as she gets further into her laying cycle! Right now, she's managed to hide her eggs from me!

DH and I both dream of a house with a front porch. We live in a single story ranch which wouldn't look right with one. We enjoy or deck in the back but it just isn't the same. I want BOTH!

This will be the only time I will speak regarding this matter with you, and it will be the last time I even acknowledge you, and I would appreciate the same consideration from you.

the fruit trees have been damaged from shipping, just a little TLC will be all that is needed to get them strong, I hope...
If it is a broken top, or broken limbs on your fruit trees, those usually (well I guess it depends on what kind of fruit trees you purchased) get pruned anyway, so it might just set them back on bearing fruit. If the trunk was damaged, you'll need to cover it with something to prevent disease from setting in. DH suggested a non toxic paint if the bark is tore up that you should be able to get at any nursery or Lowes.

My DH said to suggest the book Guide to Growing Delicious Vegetables, Fruits, & Herbs. That's where he read the tips on the fruit trees I wanted. Good luck! I hope you get tons of fruits from those trees. Fruit trees (or any food bearing plant IMO) is a great find!
Thanks Aly for your advice, I will consider it.

I can't imagine why you would be so tired, ya lazy bones!!! :D I can't imagine getting half the stuff you do accomplished!
