Quail_Antwerp: Words from the Barnyard...

yea, very creepy you just saw the story about home inspection scams for money....wow

you wait til Monday and go find the real truth !! best of luck to you Aly

You can borrow my avatar cat and sic it on him lol

Your cat scares me! Hope you get it all straightened out.

Sounds like you had your bases covered and I bet this guy was a fraud. Listen to your gut on this. :hugs

well those two things you added - that the county has been out a lot with the water hookup and never said anything about code inspections, and that the papers this guy gave you didn't even talk about code stuff, but about stuff that doesn't apply to you,
makes me think you are right, this is a scam.

call your sheriff's dept! they might want you to set up a sting, since you can call the guy back....and if not, they will still want to know about the scam.

let us know what happens on Monday!

come back soon and give us an update----
strange situation

Hey guys! quick up date -

We made a sheriff's report, he took all phone numbers and information and said he'd make a few calls. Never heard back from them. Not surprised, though LOL

Talked to the county Auditors office this morning - and they definitely think we were being scammed. She wants me to bring all of the guys papers to her this afternoon (going at 1 pm) and she said we don't need to worry about anything. We're NOT being inspected..

I repeat - NO INSPECTION! Our home is NOT going to be condemned.

Further more, she said no one would have been to our house the day after Thanksgiving to check on things, given that all county offices were closed for the holiday weekend.

I told her we were just freaked out and scared that we were going to be in alot of trouble. She said yes, technically everyone who puts in a new home is supposed to get an inspection, but they've never issued a citation to anyone for NOT getting the inspection.

I told her we had to bring in a newer home, I told her a lot of people (even some county employees) had all pulled together working with us for the last six months to help us get into this better trailer so we could improve our living situation for our kids.

We are not required to hire outside people to do the piers or put on the skirting - we're allowed to do it ourself and they don't care that our electric was hooked up by our friend who IS a licensed electrician. AND we do NOT have to have 2 inches of gravel under the home!

So, big sigh of relief!

Oh, we can look for our taxes to go UP though. She did say this is the year that the Auditors office comes around for tax purposes - so uh...yay??

To celebrate, I went to Auction yesterday and bought a big round bale of hay for the horses, 10 bales of straw, and a black pygmy nanny goat. :P (I'm probably the only person in the world who celebrates good news by buying a new goat.....)

Where is a picture of your little celebration? :gig

I really hope you can help this guy get nailed by the authorities.
