Quail_Antwerp: Words from the Barnyard...

loose "pet" dogs
OMG one of my pet peeves to the max!

shoot 'em gal

good thing you filed the report. at least you can get your money back from the owners---but after all this is said and done and they show up again in your property...get that gun.

I wouldn't be worrying about the animals as much as the kids...a 4 pack is a dog pack for sure. packs can hunt kids too.....just awful for you big time. OMG I just hate the loose dog situations! :(

Oh lordy, I hadn't even thought of them taking down one of the children....yep, get that gun out. Can you let the neighbor know that if they come on your property they will be shot? We had to do that at our old house when a dog killed one of our chickens. Put animal control on speed dial.

Target practice time. So sorry to hear about the dogs and destruction hun :hugs

Hey Quail! Good to hear from you again. Sounds like you have exciting plans in the works. How is it having water in the winter! I've thought of you guys often and it's so good to hear that things just seem to keep looking up. How are the kids loving that pony? Have you had a chance to ride your horse yet?

Hey everyone.

Quick updates -

1 - the neighbors and have kept their evil dogs penned up in a kennel after the dog warden's visit but we're still keeping watch and we haven't let our kids out of the house without us since.

2 - TRIAL has been set for the other issue. January 25. We have to meet with prosecutting attorney next Thursday so they can prep DD. They tried to get him to accept a plea, he refused.

3 - SNOW SNOW SNOW STUPID SNOW EVERYWHERE I LOOK

4- Had a falling out with some local Amish and found out that OMG they DO lie and gossip!!!

5 - Added wheat to the feed mix for all my poultry and they love it!

Having water in the house is awesome, except one main water line froze so we've had to run a garden hose from pump house to main valve on house during the day - disconnected at night to keep it from freezer.

I'm ready for spring.

Haven't got to ride Mick yet, but maybe soon. The kids are loving their pony, Rocky, though!

I plan to check into Holderreads for replacement Sebbies - but if they've already sold out not sure that will help me. The neighbors also have to pay for a Silver Appleyard Duck, a Magpie, and a pair of Welsh Harlequins. We suspect that their dogs may have also made off with a mallard duck and my blue fawn pied drake call, but we didn't find those bodies so we're not sure.

Check Murray McMurray for sebies, I know they have them and my boss (who's done poultry for more years then you've been alive lol) swears by them.

Why do people let their dogs run loose? Especially when they are like that? Why even have dogs like that in the country?

I'm so sorry about the loss of your poultry, that is a heavy toll. We lost a few and suspect a dog like that, but it is just one, and like you said, we did not find a body so it is hard to know just what happened or prove suspcions.
