I appreciate everyone's kindness, prayers, and words of encouragement.
But, now we have to pick up the pieces and move on. It's hard, too, because I think about it for a minute and literally get sick.
One thing I will say, we're taking steps to propose a change the law. We don't believe someone who has preyed on a small child, and threatened that child with a death threat, should be allowed to dismiss the jury. He had all the rights in that courtroom, and his victim (our dd) had none. We're going to propose a law (as soon as we find the route to go) that will not allow someone who committed a sexually offensive crime against a minor to choose a bench trial. Worse case scenario, the law won't pass, but our hope is that we can get it passed.
Also, the authorities KNOW he has molested his own DD but what she was able to tell them, but because of how young she is she is NOT able to testify, so therefore TN was NOT able to build a case against him. That case - for now - has been closed.
Now to moving on - back to farming. Back to living.
Which, btw, feeding the critters is really getting expensive. I've made some steps to some tough decisions over this weekend - after looking at my feed bill for the month of January.
I just have to let some things go. We're looking at the ones that actually brought some income in last year and keeping those and selling off the rest.
Mick, my halflinger, will probably be going to a new home. We just can't afford to keep him, and we're not going to keep something we can't feasonably care for. It wouldn't be fair to him. Or to the other animals. So, that's where we're at.
My muscovy drake kicked it over night. Not sure what happened, but we found him this morning. Dash Jr. was lying next to him, with a perfectly mortified expression on her face. As we took his body from the barn to dispose of him, she followed us. She has spent the rest of the day moping about.
Not sure what we're going to do for a muscovy drake, but we're pretty sure of our decision to sell all the ducks except the mallards, muscovies, and the dark campbells.
I'm also considering selling off the Sebbie Geese, too.
E thinks I should sell my goats but that's only HIS opinion, and only because he hates them and feels they are worthless.
I think he should sell his stupid guineas. But that's MY opinion because I hate them and feel they are worthless.
And that's all that's happening here.
