Quail_Antwerp: Words from the Barnyard...

Beautiful gifts - you are truly blessed. Being pregnant in the heat is no fun at all so I do feel for you - take it easy, hope you feel better soon. :celebrate Nice score on the calf.

so we just got back from going to pick up my new calf - they told me to come after 5 pm today - but while they were at church today, someone ELSE came and took him and left a jar of jelly on their front porch.

EXCUSE ME?!

They don't even know who got it, and the husband didn't seem to pleased about someone getting him while they weren't home.

I wasn't pleased that I drove out there and came home empty handed.

ASK me how steamed I am??

anyway, not steamed at the farmer, he couldn't call me as I hadn't left my number - but they have 1 more calf due in a week or so, and if it's a bull, they're going to call me and HE'S MINE. I made sure they have my number to call.

HAHA.

so.

now I'm hot and cranky, albeit feeling better, but I think half my trouble today was the baby dropped. Ayeyiyi! can they drop this soon??? I noticed when out to get the calf that I feel like I am carrying lower and I'm DEFINITELY waddling - a more pronounced waddle I should say, as I was already waddling a little bit.

Oh man, I would be steamed too!!!

At least you have a chance at the other one and this time, noone else gets dibs.

So since you are waddling ....more.... can we call you "ducky" ;)

How in the world can that happen? Do they think a stranger just came and stole it? Btw I DO NOT miss the waddling days. Last time I waddled across a field I went into labor 5 hours later.

I think whomever it was knew they had a calf, because they've been giving the males away free all year. Plus, they left them jars of jelly in trade so.....what do i have to trade....... hmmmm

A jar of jelly for a calf?!?! Sheesh I need to meet up with that farmer  Sorry they took your cow...wow how often do you get to say that though. Uhhhh...someone stole my cow. :ep  Sorry, laugh about it, and hope for another bull!!!

Wish I couldn't say " I hate when that happens", but I've had it happen to me to. My farmer made good on mine too and I actually wound up with 2 calves. Really hope the next one is a bull calf for you.

I'm not that upset over it anymore. It was just frustrating to drive out there - and then the truck refused to start in their driveway so bad evening all the way around. Though they were super nice and got under the truck hood with E to figure out the problem.

Yep, they said the cow that is due in a week or so has had bulls the last four times - to which i said great, I had 4 boys and now I'm having a girl, so she'll probably have a girl too LOLOL

It's all good.

the lady of the house said, "You like to get Jersey Bulls calfs (they actually know us personally) we have one that was just born recently. First one here Monday morning gets him FREE."
What a silly thing to say. I think maybe it was one of the people at the beek meeting, and they just wanted a jump on getting a free calf. At least they have your number for the next one.

What lovely presents you have received already. You will have to have them out at the baby shower so we can see them "in person". :D

About beeking in the heat, TR was serious when he said "water before, water in the middle, and water after." Be careful of the heat.
