I don't think that it's a bad church, the pastor wouldn't have been able to help because he had shoulder surgery and on his hand, so he couldn't really help, but we did have his blessing to announce in church that we were looking for help.
It's also a small church, and there aren't many members, so not sure how many there would have been physically capable of helping. Which is a big part of why we felt foolish. I think there's only two or three families are age? Average attendence is like 45 members, counting kids, I think, and that might be on the high side.
So I'm not really upset that no one offered, was disappointed yes, but won't ask again.
My parents have joined a new church, not far from us I don't think, but it's only a year old and the congregation is small but they are all about outreach and helping the community - and it sounds like something I could really get into. The men of the church are very active about outreach, etc. They have several meetings a week for prayer, building the churchs bathrooms together, and are now working on a getting a van because they recieved word that there are children wanting to attend services but don't have transportation.
Anyhoo...I kind of borrowed your idea, missthe_north, and posted on my familys FB forum asking if anyone would be willing to come out and spend a day helping with JUST the yard work for now - figured I'd better not toss it all out there at once lol. I offered to supply food, drinks, and snacks and our time to help them with anything in return that they need done. My mom replied to it already and said, "they need a lot more than yard work done!" and she rambled off a list...I hope it doesn't scare anyone off!
Mom's coming over this evening, too. She's staying the night to get the kiddos off to school for us in the morning because E and I have a super important meeting tomorrow in WVA.
I appreciate all the kind thoughts, and offers of wishful help!

It'll get done, just seems a bit much for NOW given everything we have going on. Normally wouldn't be too worried, I think just the idea that I'll be laid up with a c-section has me nervous about it getting done.
