i got a presto at the thrift store today for 2.50

i had no clue what it really was suppose to look like

after coming home i was able to read the label

presto 4 qt copper bonded stainless steel cooker
model 304
no 2218188
looks fairly old the lid is like a twist lid with a rubber seal inside there is no rack or those things that go on top

did i find a good deal

the lid is missing the handle
im trying to find a replacement hadle at a decent price
i looked on ebay and amazon but have no clue what im suppose to be looking for
can someone clue me in


****also i got like a 6qt "Crock" im guessing thats what it is it is like pottery or something with a high glaze on it pls tell me what they are used for

you should be able to find the user manual online - whoot! i was so glad i found it (just searched) b/c i lost mine. yikes!

With that description, you'd only want to use it as a cooker, not a canner. I'd be worried about using it as a pressure cooker too.

But on the bright side, I'd have paid 2.50 for a 4 quart stainless steel pot.

I was going to say what noobie said, it probably is not meant to be used as a pressure canner only a cooker which does not hold the temps as a canner does. I would take it to your local extension office and ask them to check it for you, they usually have someone who can test them on certain days.
