Question for St. Bernard owners....Baby pix of my new..uh..Newfie?

Yep...those are considered Landseer Newfs. Pretty, huh? :)

The Bat and I spent some time in the pretty evening sun letting the pups play on the green grass. Absolutely adorable and very smart little things. Really sweet dogs!

The female, Shane, started to chase chickens....that young! :th I reprimanded her sharply and she stopped in her tracks. The next time she approached them I called to her and told her "no" but not in a harsh tone. She stopped and turned right around. Seven weeks old and able to learn a simple leave it command....I'm impressed! :)

I'm afraid I'm going to turn into one of those people who have empty nest syndrome and got puppies to alleviate the need to nurture. :P I sure hope not.....

Our kids often tease us that we replaced them with dogs when they moved out. :gig What they fail to remember is that we had dogs before we had them! :P

I don't know, Farm...these pups seem to have snagged my heart and I'm looking forward to training them and to their companionship. Maybe its anticipatory grieving for Lucy Dear, but my heart is ready to love and this seems like the right thing to do.

Even the Bat, who is no lover of dogs, just has the feeling that it was the right thing to do. Weird, to say the least. She's even the one that suggested the second puppy.... :P

Lucy and Jake really, really, really don't like the new pups.... Sibling rivalry.

I think sometimes older dogs just don't want to be trouble with babies. Probably when they get a bit bigger they will do better with them.

Got some new pics of my rapidly growing Newfie mix pups. These pups are smart and so very fun to watch right now.

They got their first raw meat today~deer meat and bones. You should have seen them turn instantly into baby wolves!!! Snarling and grabbing, fighting and snapping at each other!

I had to do a little training on who it is appropriate to growl at and who is not when it comes to bones......

This is Dewley with an apple...seems he will take up with Jake on the apple eating. He carried this around for some time and teethed on it happily~funny to see this enormous apple in this little dog's mouth!

This is Dewley with my youngest son, Jon....we were comparing noses. I think Jon almost wins!

They are 9 wks. old right now and have almost tripled their size at 4 wks. I'm trying to not overfeed or feed too much protein, as I was advised to not let them grow too fast.....but, darn it, how do I get them to stop??? :P

They each are currently eating more than my grown dog and are still ravenous when fed. I can't imagine cutting down on rations.

I guess they burn off so much fuel...they never stop playing except to take naps. They are very healthy and active, so I'm not too worried....just don't want to overstress their joints.

They're going to be huge! But, they're so cute. :love If it wasn't for the fact that you're so far away, and I prefer a smaller dog, you just might find one missing one day.

If Im ever in West Virginia, it would be safe to say you'll be missing a dog. If I was guessing.....:P
