I have paid for the person behind when I used to go thru the drive thru in the mornings. And have also pulled over when I have seen women with children or elderly walking and offer a ride. Its amazing how many people will not stop.
I love the ideas about paying for someones meal at the restaurant..I am getting some good ideas here.
I did have a great experience once. When everyone was leaving for Hurricane Ike the gas stations were only taking credit/debit cards at the pumps(I only had cash)and after I tried my 5th one -a man asked me what was wrong-then told me to get in line behind him. He filled my tank, which was on empty, and refused to take any money for it!

I love these stories! I like the one about the restuarant...will definitely be trying that one!

I really like to do this sort of thing at Christmas time also....I think it really gets folks in the mood when a stranger is kind to them...sort of a play it forward kind of thing.

I saw a woman and her grandchild miss their bus at the intersection where I stabled my horses. I gave them a ride to her destinaton.

Today my daughter and I brought a plate of spaghetti and meatballs over to our next door neighbor.


He is a nice guy but man the world is caving in around him. Lost his job, truck just broke, house is falling down and I mean falling down, no heat just an old fireplace and no family around. He is an old islander too. The family as been here for a long generation. A lot of churches and care groups send him stuff too. They put him up in a local bed and breakfast but this winter looks like he is on his own. I think about this often and wonder what I could do to help but another side of me says thread lightly and offer when I have it.

I'll be honest too I have wanted to buy his property too. It would add an extra acre to my property and some very nice apple trees on it. I would feel like crap to ask if he wants to sell it all now knowing what I now know. ARF!!!!!

We were driving along one day and saw a little boy go down a hill on a gravel driveway on his bike and took quite a tumble.....he got up with blood all over his knees and crying so we turned the car around and made sure he was alright and got his parents to come get him.

Ok am I the only one who is crying over here? Everyone is soo nice and these stories are so heartfelt.

I LOVE YOU GUYS! We are a very special group to say the least.

This happened two minutes ago.

There are two people in our local FreeCycle group with the same name -- mine. Just now, an elderly couple knocked on my door to bring me moving boxes meant for the other person. I didn't want them to have to schlepp them back, so i am getting in touch with the other person and getting them to her.

But that's not the good part. I had asked for help fixing my stereo, which really isn't a freecycle thing, but this elderly man (he and his wife have been here before) said that his CD drawer had gotten stuck in the open position before and maybe he could take a look. He thinks he can fix it, and he took it with him to putter with him. This is such a wonderful thing. I love Christmas music, and have dozens of CDs that hopefully I will be able to play soon.

I've been on both ends.

Most of ya'll know my daughter has been fighting cancer for several years. One day, she and I are eating lunch at a restruant. She's bald as a cue ball. When the waitress walks by I ask her for our ticket, she says "your tickets all ready been paid". I ask by who and she tells me the gentleman has already left. I'll never forget that.

A couple years ago I went downtown to the Salvation Army because they were giving away weather stripping and stuff to wrap pipes. It's a pretty rough area. My daughter was with me. This man walks by and he's obvisouly homeless. For some reason I felt led to talk to him. I said "excuse me, I don't want to be rude, but are you homeless?" he said "yes ma'am" so I walk back to the car, told my daughter to give me 10 dollars, and went back to the man. I gave it to him and told him to go get some coffee and something to eat. His eyes lit up. He was so happy, he just kept saying thank you, thank you.

Last week, my paycheck was delayed. It didn't come until the day before Thanksgiving, so it was scary. The Lord knew, and He moved on the heart of some kind person. Long before the check came, I received anonymous money in the mail, in a Thanksgiving card.

But that's not the good part. I have a CD drawer that stuck closed. If he has no luck: Take a paperclip, open it up and straighten. There is a tiny hole usually just above the drawer. push in clip a little, press the CD button and push clip in further. This will manually trip the switch. It isn't a fix but will allow you access manually. Beats throwing the unit away if you can't fix it.
