Real food? - Mini vent.

I notice it was zoned agricultural/residential. If you read between the lines, that means the residences are in the process of ousting the farms from the area.

Here, if the town spread catches up with your farm and you're lucky enough to live in a nice area, you're more likely to get offered a fortune for your land, so they can develop it. In the town where I grew up, one farmer refused to sell, so the town planners simply bypassed his farm, building all around him and slapping the most desirable neighbourhood right behind him... We heard rumours that he ended up getting the equivalent of a lottery win for his land.

Goat milk tastes like cows milk to me. I have only ever tasted any that had a bad flavor due to the does being housed with the bucks. Their scent could penetrate a solid steel door, and you could taste that smell in that milk if that makes sense

Yep, it makes sense. I've been past a landfill that was so smelly, I could taste it.

I bought goats milk once at a supermarket and it tasted fine to me. Much the same as cows milk.

For some reason lately, every time I buy apple juice it tastes slightly off. You know when you bite into an apple and find a rotten bit in the middle? It tastes a bit like that I need to find myself a juicer, I think...

I don't understand this "law". Its seems to b Ok for big brother to jam pack as many poor animals into a pen stall whatev spray our veggies n fruits that r supposedly fresh, but to grow ur own raise ur own they gonna have a beef with that. Ordinance's are just a way of the government bn able to keep so called control over society. This whole issue irks me beyond belief! Sorry so late on replies & whatnot been pretty busy round my way with upgrading duck pen & workn round the house! Trying my best to get my 12y.o. son motivated back on the track with his grades in school (attending academic academy with a know it all attitude is not the way to start a new school yr.!)...back to subject tho I've never onc checked to c if I could have chickens ducks goats or anything else round my way I live out in the country but no where far enough out. I feel that what I'm growing & raising for sustainable life for myself & my family is much better than any chemical induced crap that is store bought. Now don't get me wrong I'll say it I'm running out the house now to go to Walmart for a few things but hey the fact is I know what's good for my fam & that's what I'm gonna do regardless of any ordinances lol. Luckily I'm not tripping on it & my heart goes out to those who are bustin they rump daily to try & do the same!

I hear you @basschick2305. As I mentioned before I live in SA and we don't have laws against well, anything here, it seems! LOL I've known people here to keep horses and sheep in town, in their backyards. Not many, but they could, no-one reported them or complained. The laws in other countries, especially the hardcore ordinances in the US baffles me. I mean, why can you keep chickens? Why can't you keep a few goats on a decent size plot? Who does it harm? And why not allow people to do what's best for their families, which is home grown food? I'm so grateful that we can do that here. At the moment we rely on the shops for everything except eggs, but we used to be fairly self-reliant with our own meat, veggies and eggs. I miss those days...

Want to hear something crazy? If I lived in Philly, I could have my horses in my back yard, and it would be legal-no matter how small the yard, or so I've been told.

How do you define what is fine to keep in your yard though, and what isn't? In some cities in the US they don't have restrictions on animals, which can lead to people having tigers and bears in their back yards!
