rodeogirl's journey to being self-sufficient

Baby drain at its best I didn't realise that I sewed the blanket backwards in till I was ready to turn it 1559078603171185603979.jpg

Well I got the seam riped out and it pind back together the right way this time (I checked it about a dozen times.) Now I just need to sew it.

The blankets are done and ready to ship (they are 40.5 in by 44.5 in).

My boyfriend told me I should start making them and selling them. Which i think I'm going to start doing i just need to shop around and find somewhere that is cheaper then our local fabric store. Don't get me wrong i love shopping local but i don't think people would enjoy paying $25 ($1.29 profit not relay worth it) at the least for a blanket. (I paid $23.71 for the fabric for one blanket.) So with that said how much would you all pay for a baby blanket.

Look on-line at Thousands of Bolts for fabric. I find some good prices on there.

I know people who will spend $25 for a baby quilt, that really isn't that outrageous, but closer to $15 would probably be a better price.

A friend of mine on BYC quilts a lot and buys fabric all the time. I know she buys online often, so I'll shoot her a note and ask her for recommendations.

She said:

I buy some at Walmart, but the selection is limited. My best online source for great quality fabrics at good prices (quilt shops may charge $10-14/yard for what this place charges $5.99/yard for, same exact fabrics) is www.thousandsofbolts.com That's the only place I buy and they have good sales, too. Tell her to get on their mailing list for notices of those sales. Sometimes, they'll have a "we ship them all, big and small, for $5.99" sale and you can literally get as much weight in fabric as you like for that shipping. There will be sales of fabrics as low as $3/yard and *all* are 100% quality cottons, no cheapie stuff.
