No, but it makes things tough for smaller farmers and food producers.

The problem with this bill, as with many others we have seen in the past 2 years, is that we are not really sure what it means.

Based on the track record of the USDA and the FDA, it can't be good. We already have raw milk dairies, food buying clubs, and now individual consumers being arrested, harassed and robbed of their food at gunpoint.

Will more power to these agencies be a good thing?

The real danger now (and what you should focus on, since this is going to pass in one form or another) is the House stripping the exemptions from the bill for small producers for local food. There are lots of folks on both sides of the aisle in the House who are Big Ag's friends. If they are successful, then yes, indeed, this could be the end of the local food movement.

Make sure it passes with the Tester Amendment left intact.

It means barter or sell to only trusted friends. Keep no records. Don't sell to strangers.
