I bought 17 chicks from a hatcher for 2.50 each, I only want 6-8 of them. My problem is the city allows chickens just no coop so really I have no idea where I would put 17 growing up for 3 month, I plan on using a dog run for the chickens during the day and have a stealth coop at night along with a fake coop in my porch( we have had the city after us about a rabbit hutch as animals other then dogs cant reside outside) . I figured in 2-3 weeks I could sell the extra's for $5-10 each which will make up for the cost of the one's I'm keeping, the one's I'd sell are barred rock. |What would you do?

I'm always up for trying to sell them to recoup money first. Whatever doesn't sell can then be butchered. :)

Unless.....having the best quality food is important to you. Then raise them up, feeding them what YOU want them to eat, then butcher.

On the other hand, it won't be so stealthy when those boys start crowing....
