We are holding onto the hope that when the winter diesel is done, the price will drop down some.
But, reality is that you need to hold onto your wallet - this ain't going to be pretty.

Biden wants 100% of new car sales to be electric vehicles by 2030. Not goin to be pretty for those of us that need a truck for getting stuff done.

California gas taxes. Which are supposed to go to repair the roads...yet some roads stay full of poorly patched potholes for years.
Try driving highway 80 from CA to Nevada and back. Their side looks and feels so nice to drive on, ours is terrible, especially in the slow lane where there are ruts from people driving with chains on. Not sure how Nevada keeps theirs so nice but you'd think we would try to copy that.

And no $100 car keys.
When I bought my truck the sales lady told me to buy a key somewhere else then have ford program it. The lock quit working and I needed it for the auto start to work. Nice on winter days but not needed.
It is however needed to start it while in bed in the camper to charge the batteries while in a Wal-Mart parking lot. I believe it cost around $250. Not sure but I think I paid for them to F*)*) and give me a car key with a trunk button not auto start.
