I just went back and re-read all the good advice that Beekissed and ORChick gave about the starter. Of course, this was AFTER I made bread with the starter today. So, it was better than before, but still a little sour for my preference. NOW I will try to bring it back to a less sour state. I think one reason it was so bad originally was that I had used rye flour to start with. Man, that stuff has a twang. Of course, it was probably rancid when I bought it! So, this bread, in comparison, is not bad. I think I'll go eat some more.
