Its nice to see my chickens out in the yard catching bugs again. They are strange creatures. This is about 1/2 of the hens with BO Roo . The other 1/2 are with the BO/RIR Roo.

My hunting dog earning his keep, shepherding over the chickens. He's such a good dog. But he would be miserable if I ever brought him inside. He loves protecting the property.

CC, those are great pictures. Chickens and a dog all doing what they are best at! What the red thing in the tree in the first picture? My phone won't let me pull it up bigger to see it clearly?

Your lovely dog looks like he "may" have some Bernese Mtn dog in him -- ? I like the BOs. They are large, calm, good layers. I've got a couple who are at least 4, maybe 5...still laying. These RIRs I had hoped better for are large but small eggs. Not liking that.

I have a lot of birds and they do split into "groups" of hens/roos that always stay together. Most often they go into their own little area of preference during the day.
