Congratulations!!

For flowers, I was just at a wedding where the arrangements were rented from the local flower shop for the day.
Really? How on earth did they get that arranged?!
It was a small flower shop in northern Wisconsin. The bride just went into the shop and told the owner what her budget was, and the owner suggested renting. The flowers were beautiful!

Can you give me the shop's name? I'm in northwestern WI.

My first wedding was truly the best wedding I've ever been to. I borrowed a dress, got married in the little church down the street, walked back to the reception in my parents' backyard, and the food was all made by family and friends. Open bar (Dad wouldn't invite people to his home and ask them to pay for drinks), we had 300 people there - it was a blast. We had a DJ, and a friend of mine took pictures, they were lovely. The cake came from a local bakery. The wedding cost, all told, about $1500. That was in 1978.

My second wedding (and my last!!) was just hubby and I and the JP on a bridge over Lake Chocoura up in NH - and cost $35. I am not one to spend a lot on weddings, it's about the marriage, to me, not the day.

My last marriage ceremony was very cheap indeed, in Florida a notary can do it so a neighbor that had the stamp who I did some repair work for did it for free with his wife as the witness, everybody wore bluejeans and the only camera was a 110 instamatic that the her loaded wrong so the film never advanced and all 12 pictures came out superimposed on each other. In the long run I think it cost me $100,000 and you can't put a price on the lost years.
