I am going to do a 'quick' update, while we still have internet. DH has run out of un-enjoyment, and here in MI it isn't easy to get an extension, especially in DH's profession. :/
We are pretty close to finished on the kitchen remodel. I went ahead and snapped some pictures, and will post the befores as well, so it will be easier to see the changes (please excuse any messy spots). Also, we went over our budget.

We had to do some extra things we hadn't planned for, so the total cost was $715, not $600. Bummer!
I've been doing a lot of canning and dehydrating. Mostly getting the freezer emptied so we have room for pig girl #1, who is HUGE now. She tried to chew through the electric/reg. fence to attack DH, so her time has come (weird too, because she still comes to the fence when I call her, for ear scritches

) I have been learning how to make some 'new' things from scratch, so now the ONLY thing we still have to buy right now from the store is milk. I've been pretty sick for a good long while. Went to the Specialist, who gave me a new script (that she said was "Almost all natural"

), which made me violently ill. I decided to try some natural alternatives for part of my issues - zero energy - and have improved greatly.

Changed meds myself (as calls to the doc go unreturned) and have relieved most of the really serious issues. Will be very glad when all this is sorted out!
Here are the pictures:
This is the right side of the kitchen, at the beginning of the work;
Right side, almost done (still needs a bit of trim/paint)
Left side before;
Left side after (please note the table, covered in Axis & Allies, which I think the guys will NEVER finish!

);

Here are a couple neat things DH made for me.
First up, the Cookbook Nook, built into the island;
This is a spice holder he made out of some left over scraps from when he made new drawer fronts from an old cabinet door (which reminds me - I bet you can't figure out which two drawers he built by looking at the pictures - they match perfectly!);
If we manage to keep our internet, or when we get it back, I will post pictures of the new entrance to the kitchen. I didn't take before pictures, because we didn't plan to change it. Once we took down the drywall, we saw SERIOUS issues and DH had to replace the whole thing. Well, not letting an opportunity for awesomeness go to waste, I talked him in to changing things up a bit, and it is almost finished and looks AMAZING! I love my hubby!
As a close, this is a picture I took last week, out my front door. This is why I envy all of you who can play in the dirt already!
P.S. The weatherman was nice enough to point out that we are, today, 54 degrees colder than we were on this day last year. Thanks guy, I really did NOT need to have that rubbed in my face!
