Sufficient Self's Bible Study Group

Hello, just want to introduce myself. I found sufficient self from a sister sight and thought I would look thru the forum and came across your bible study group. I hope you don't care if I join in. I don't have a avatar set up yet or any thing else for that matter I need to learn how to do it first. I have read most of the post and I am looking forward to following it.

Forgot to ask are you still in chapter 5 of Ecclesiastes?

Hi Bambi,
We will be starting chapter six tomorrow. We are currently doing two chapters a week. We switch up on Sunday and Wednesday.
Oh, and welcome to the SS and to our Bible study :)

I'm wondering just how they know you are "lucky" as opposed to whatever their life is like? When they say these things are they referring to your material possessions? Lifestyle? :hu
Really anything my family has that their family doesn't. Some material things, some things like the family structure, some things like the fruit of our labor. We try to do the right things, work hard, give thanks, and so forth. I tried once to respond by saying we were blessed by a wonderful Creator and got the "he dealt me a crappy life" excuse and I didn't want to get into an argument.

:hide Great, I get the nasty quote number this thread... okay...guys, I took one for the team... :hide

   YOU don't have to fear that number! :D I would have never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

I would ask them if they needed any financial help. Either they will say "yes" and you can show them why God has blessed you with more~because He expects you to share your riches with others that have less

~ or they will say "no" and feel embarassed they had been uncouth enough to seem to be hinting around for money.

Either way they will see what true Christianity is all about....when God blesses a Christian with material goods and riches beyond their needs, He expects them to give it away to those who have little. God loves a cheerful giver and will give it back to one tenfold, in full measure, shaken down and running over.

You never know...you could lead someone to Christ in this manner! :) They could learn that it is not about what you have that makes your life good....it is what you give away.

Bee, I'm taking this to heart right now. I did something today I didn't really want to do, but we've been talking here about using the talents given to us to help spread the Word, I decided I was getting a not-so-subtle nudge to do so. I pushed my selfish pride way far away and did the right thing with a difficult person in a manner I think our Father would approve of. The door is open for more positive interactions this summer, so words like yours and the others are so encouraging. He never said this would be easy!

:weee :weee Please tell us all about it if you can! I love to hear about sowing God's seeds and reaping the harvest of that! :clap
