Mulled Cider
Serves 18
1/3 cup molasses
1 cup water
2 T lemon juice
16 whole cloves
1/16 tsp cinnamon oil (see notes)
1/2 gallon apple cider
In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients except the cider. Bring to a boil over low heat. Lower heat, and simmer, uncovered, for 4 to 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a deep kettle, heat the cider over low heat. Pour the spice mixture into the cider and blend. Transfer to a heat proof punch bowl and ladle into 4 oz cups.
NOTES: Cinnamon oil is a highly concentrated flavoring available at specialty food shops or Amish stores. Dont use ground cinnamon, as it wont dissolve.
