I know Free already had a broody experiment but its MY turn. I was gonna wait till spring for a broody but I tend to get impatient and I got one of thens who I think had sat before and I got 6 eggs and took her butt to the 6 by 8 and fixed the nest sat her on the eggs and put a milk crate on her. :hide

LETS HOPE SHE GOES TO SETTIN!

Im taking it off tommorow night.

You probably get enough eggs so it doesn't matter but ... I usually use fake eggs, golf balls, or whatever in the nests all the time. That seems to encourage the ones that are going to brood. I don't often have standards do it, but it does happen sometimes.

Hope it works well for you. :)

BB, last year, I brought home 8 eggs and set them under the crippled chicken that I have at home. I had half the eggs disappear, but she hatched out 3 of the others. So, it might work. And, this chicken has never been one to lay a lot of eggs. But, it looks like she might be a good broody, so IMO, that's just as important.
