Of course I also got them for 9.99 which makes the wearing a lot easier.

lupin- OHH! those are pretty too!

xpc- i don't own Birkenstocks anymore, but i remember them fondly as very comfortable (molded perfectly to your foot) winter shoes. i can't imagine wearing them in warm weather! (i've only ever had the clogs... forgot they make sandals.) and i'm pretty sure you can get them resoled for free...

Barefoot is always better. Unless it's the winter. Or you have to go into a store. Then they make you leave.

barefoot is always better until you are ankle deep in piss mud... then boots are a godsend. ah, the joy of working with cattle. this winter was so wet, and the cows were so intrigued by the chicken wagon in the middle of their field, that a piss mud moat quickly developed- one which i had to slog through multiple times a day. i'm usually not phased by a little ickiness on my feet (as i have said before, that's what water hoses are for) but that mess was really gross.

Cowboy boots? Hehe I own these... Probably the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.

I am assuming Marine issue desert boots. (they even have the Globe and Eagle stamped on them). Got them online at LA Police Gear where they were seconds on sale for 9.99 plus about 4 dollars shipping. They had a really terrible flaw. Or at least it was the only flaw I could find. There was a bad spot about the size of nail head in the sueded leather on the toe. After a year and a half of chicken poo, mud, garden tilling, grass cutting, wearing to work at a sheet metal shop, painting, etc, that tiny little spot just vanished. I don't know what happened to it!

My everyday boots are the Justin workboots. Been wearing them for years now. Low heel, non marking sole. I would love to try a pair of the slip on ones, but they would be speciel order. I tried some Ariat boots on, and did not like them. The Justins do not seem to need much breaking in. For winter muck boots, I don't think you can beat the Bogs. Just make sure they are warm before you put them on.

The heel is really thick. I'm 5'10, I really don't need the extra height but I just lovers them so much and I'll be living in the city soon (booooo) for school and they'd be nice for going out. Generally I'm a jeans, tshirts, and converse type of girl though. Hehe.
