things are looking good in the rabbitry

Sorry to hear you lost the litter. Guess these things happen, but it still sucks.

Well I had another doe kindle. She always has 5 or 6. This time it was 10! She lost 2 but 8 is still a good sized litter!

2 litters are just about ready for camp and my other doe is set to kindle soon. All in all its been a productive year for the rabbits

Have you ever mixed it with fatty pork/beef and made sausage? Ground rabbit also makes good chili.

Nope. I need a grinder and stuffer!! That sounds good

I bought a cheap electric grinder 30+ years ago, paid $60 and still using it. You can find similar grinders online. You don't have to have a $600 machined aluminum meat grinder from Cabela's, even though those things give me serious grinder envy. LOL My little grinder is the only one in the neighborhood and it makes the rounds.

Dude I envy you, my wife has been wanting rabbits for several years. Everytime she brings it up again, I look out the dinning room window and say look you got rabbits in the back yard want me to shoot a couple for dinner? But in all honesty, I don't have a clue where to begin - do you have a good book to recommend for reading this winter?

Well dont. We had a crazy hit spell this summer. When it hit 113, all but one died.

Get some white rabbits. Buuld wire cages. Breed them at 6 months. Mark the calender at 28 days from breeding and give then a nest box. Seperate at 4 weeks. Slaughter at 8 weeks.

Keep em cool. Shade, frozen water bottles, etc. Dont breed after march. Start again in the fall.

Take the doe to the buck for breeding. When he falls off she is bred. Never buck to doe.
