They weren't. I wiped the worst of the dirt off them before putting them in the incubator. I know people say you shouldn't wash them, but I'm not putting crap into a warm, humid environment with those expensive shipped eggs I bought! And I wash my hands before handling the eggs.

No, I want opinions! I can see 2 dark areas, in the second pic you can clearly see one on top and one at the bottom of the egg. Both are moving. Embryo stretching from "wall to wall" or... twins ?

I went back and candled again and again, same thing every time. I'm honestly a little bit worried now!

Oh geeze, I went back and looked and you're right - there are two dark areas. I dunno…. I've never heard good things about twins hatching

Most of the time it doesn't end well I'm not sure what is going on in there, so I'll keep an eye on the egg and see how things go and

How far along is that egg? It may be possible that the embryo is positioned so that you are seeing part of it close to the top, and the other part close to the bottom. For instance, if the embryo is positioned like the letter C, with his back facing away from you, and his head at one end, and his feet at the other end of the C, you might be seeing the 2 dark spots. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait, and see what happens. You could candle that egg more frequently, to see what you see. But, really... there's not a lot that you can do if it does happen to be twins. Agreed with @sumi , twin birds are rarely successful, even with the best of intervention.

It's 2 weeks along now, @Lazy Gardener and I also suspect (hope) it's simply positioned wall-to-wall in there! Twins are rarely successful hatches.

I removed another 2 of the chicken eggs tonight, they are on day 7/8 now. Down to 12 with 2 I'm not sure about
