I figure the way things are going, food in any form will be a much appreciated gift :D

Of course, people may need a good stiff mead to help them cope. :p

I'll just plan on making some mead, cider, melon cordials, dried tomatoes, jellies, jams, and some dry bean soups in a jar. If I have those on hand, I have plenty to give to whoever needs or appreciates homemade gifts.

The relatives I will be sending gifts to don't or can't really appreciate my home canned stuff except for the jelly and I can't count on getting fruits to do jellies AGAIN so I'm going to get some soaps together for Greg's Mom and sisters and hopefully a cheese or two some vanilla and then I'll get some vanilla and soap for my mom and her jailers .....er, my brother and SIL and that's about it. My daughter will LOVE some homemade feta, vanilla and soap. DONE!

I'm sorry, I'll quit thinking about Christmas. Just nice to know it's all taken care of at least for extended family. We won't talk about the five little kids at home who just really don't care about soap or vanilla or cheese since they'll be getting it every day.

I used to be super well organized and start really early. Then the whole commercialism got to me. Then I changed religion. So, even though I still do christmas gifts, I don't worry about it so much anymore. It actually makes it a lot less stressful and nicer. If I come across something for someone, I make it or buy it, other than that, I always have my jams, pickles or other homemade goods to fall back on. I don't want people to be left out either. ;)
I do enjoy making gifts for people and I got in the habit of giving "just because" gifts instead. Once I explain it, everyone seems to like it.
"I don't give gifts for christmas and birthdays. I am just too busy and scatterbrained these days. So if I come across something that reminds me of you, I give it to you, just because I love you!" Even the kids understand that.

I just LOVE Christmas (though it's Yule here) and with all these kids and now we'll have foster babies in the house again this year I LOVE getting it all planned out early. Not gonna stress one bit over it but since things like the vanilla and the cheeses need curing time it's nice to know I've got it started.
