Time is money, right? I am a hopeless computer addict and I did something today that cuts down on my computer time.

I had a HUGE list of favorites and I keep my favorites bar open all the time.

I made folders and sorted them all out. I only have 5 links not categorized - google, facebook, 2 emails, and the libary catalog site.

With my 4 social sites in a folder titled "Forums" I no longer have the compulsive need to check them constantly.

I don't have to sort through a HUGE LONG list to find everything. I can actually find that recipe to make ice cream without an ice cream maker, and the link to "Path to Freedom" that took me 5 minutes to find earlier today.

My business stuff is together and easier to find. I remember all sorts of things that I was going to do or read later. (read: ways to make money)

Time is money - I encourage you to start organizing your digital life. My inboxes and photo files are next! :th

You did well getting organized

I am lucky

I don't "do" facebook, no photos or any other type of stuff on the puter other than this site, a few games when I feel the desire which is rare, lol and my emails and check banking statements

so I am lucky, not a "true" computer addict "just yet"

Wow, I did the exact same thing yesterday!

I keep wishing I could get my email under similar control. I've had the same addy for ten years or so and some old mail in there that is very precious to me. But tons of junk keep coming in.

Sometimes I joke about my virtual clutter, LOL. I think that's one big way computers have NOT been time saving devices. ;)

After thinking hard on the "100 Things" thread, I decided I have a lot to purge from my digital life.

I have made exactly one sale from my rabbit website. Kijiji has been my best source of sales. So I'm ditching the site and flickr. They are so much work to maintain!! I'm deleting the facebook page. After a year or so of French Angoras, I want to move into a short-hair meat rabbit. My angoras are lovely, but I don't use the wool. If TSHTF, I'm going for sheep! It is very hard to sell raw wool - not much market and very tough to get into. So I'll pull down my etsy shop for wool. Right now maintaining all these rabbits and web stuff is not worth it! That will also remove me from one web forum associated with my Etsy. I can cancel my localharvest store as well.

I'm temporarily keeping my dog training site. I'm not ready to pull the plug, but I'm starting to accept that I will always be underpaid in this area and that it's not worth it. I think I will pull down my facebook page for this. More than 300 of my over 400 friends are dog trainers themselves. Less than a dozen of my FB friends are local, the onl ones that have dogs and I've already trained. It's not bringing income... so why bother. Without facebook, I've no use for the blog for dog training. I removing my favorites link to a dog training website. I learn a lot, but mostly I give out free advice - a waste of my time. I have gotten work from the forum, but not anything worth the years I've spent developing connections there. No interest in pet portraits there either.

ETA: It's bad when I completely forget about one of my stupid little businesses. :gig I also have a site and etsy for custom sewing. Deleting those too. I don't enjoy it enough to work on it. I'm better off focusing on sewing for MY family!

I am keeping my mental health blog because it is an important tool in tracking my condition. In addition, keeping it is therapeutic - like writing in a journal.

I'm going to focus on my dog portrait FB and blog. Nothing else. After 10 years of dog training, never making enough money to make it worth it, I think I am done. It's a shame because I am d*mn skilled and an expert in a very specialized type of service dog. I'm a fool to keep doing the same thing and hope something will change. The local market for dog training sucks. The WORLD market for pet portraits is better for me to pursue. I have a huge and growing network of dog people, and I'm reading and learning everything I can get on social networking marketing.

I'm gonna feel a whole lot better...

:woot

Computer time down to 15 minutes this morning. Was 1 hour+ before! I cleaned the kitchen, started laundry, and loaded the dishwasher in that time. (Loading the dishwasher involves carrying everything into the basement!

Now I have time to sit down and google up ideas and dream. I usually don't get to do that after messing around with the websites and forums!
