We had these HUGE beetles that flew around the porch light this summer, then ended up dead on the deck in the morning; I'd scoop them up & threw them in the pen for the chickens, who thought it was Christmas! When I mentioned this to my niece, she was so disgusted she won't eat our eggs anymore...! What does she think chickens are doing when they're scratching in the dirt??

yummy. sometimes I get seeds growing in my compost pile. I like that better.

Does anyone know what the reddish-brown cocoon like things are that we find some times under the dirt? A different stage of this grub maybe? We call them the creme-filled kind.

Whether or not it's from this type of grub or not, I don't know. But, chances are, it is from some type of beetle.
