a friend who use to have meat rabbits says if they have had ear mites you cant use them as meat rabbits.
I read that they have to be treated and not used as food source for 30 days.
Sooo I just wanted to know which is correct. I don't have ear mites but that got me wondering?? :bun :hu

I have never had any kits develop ear mites, only my older buck or does. But my strong opinion is it really doesn't matter. How are mites in the ear going to affect the meat. Also, if you do treat with ivermectin, there i a withdrawl period, but I don't know what it its.

My response would be old wives tale--not to be taken as gospel.

We have harvested snow shoe hares who had mites before, and they were delicious, but I must admit--it wasn't as nice to clean.
