I first tried a bean burger about a month ago while experimenting with *cheap* but healthy food ideas. After all ground beef cost a lot of money now days.

The first one I made sucked.

The last one was great but still not meaty enough.

I want to see how close I can get this to taste meaty like a "burger".

Maybe if I put some spam in it? what does it need?

OK, I am intrigued. Just how does one make a bean burger? Sounds like it would be a little gooey. What did you put in it?

You take a can of black beans, ad an egg, mash them up real good until they get sticky and gooye, form a patty and grill or bake it.

if you like you can ad unions, corn and all sorts of healthy things.

I just ad lots of BBQ sauce to mine and sometimes ketchup... its real good.

My little girl (shes 5) and she likes them better than beef and they end up costing waaaaay less and SUPER healthy!.

I can make 4 good size burgers for about 0.60!

I make black bean burgers by mixing a can of beans(drained and rinsed and mashed) in with .5-.75lbs of ground beef. I add in an egg, bread crumbs and spices(Montreal Steak seasoning). I can make 5-6 burgers from that amount the the family LOVES them!!

I need to try this! It sounds really good. I sometimes add in a bit of oatmeal to stretch the burger meat, but this sounds better :drool Thanks for the idea ya'll :D
