I’m 99.9% certain my dog isn’t pregnant but it appears she’s producing milk?! It’s coming from each one when pressure is applied. It was an accident and then I checked them all!
Dogs act super weird with a false pregnancy, it's funny and frustrating too! Sometimes giving them a small stuffed animal helps them emotionally. They'll treat it like a real puppy.
I'd call or email your vet and see if they recommend anything. Like, what if it's not false pregnancy and there's something sinister that causes lactation? IDK, it would put my mind at ease.
We had a one year old mini weiner dog that had never been bred bring down milk and nurse a tiny kitten. The kitten eventually grew larger than the dog, still nursing. LOL We finally had to wean the full grown cat.
we don't actually have a vet...... she's had at least one litter prior to us getting her, the previous caretakers of my sweet girl we're not good people. claimed she was fixed but we found no scar, claimed she was about 3 years younger than she really was, we think shes about 8 now and we brought her home 5 years ago. they tried to say she was only a year old..... I'll look into getting her a cheap animal at the local dollar store, that way if she tears it apart it was only a buck.
I heard of what is called "false pregnancy" and think that might be the case with your dog. Google says:
"False pregnancy, or pseudopregnancy, is a term used to denote a common condition in a non-pregnant female dog that is showing symptoms of pregnancy, lactation, or nursing, without producing puppies. The affected female dog shows these symptoms about a month or two after her estrus (heat) is over."
