Venison Stew


1-2 lbs venison stew meat
3 cups beef broth
2 medium stalks celery, chopped
1 small bag carrots, chopped
6 oz tomatoe sauce
4 oz can mushrooms, sliced
3 bay leaves
4 medium potatoes, chopped
8 oz canned peas
2 tsp tapioca



Layer stew meat in bottom of crockpot. Peel and chopped potatoes and carrots. Pour in beef broth and tomatoe sauce. Layer carrots, potatoes, celery and mushrooms. Add bay leaves. Add tapioca. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Checking potatoes and carrots for doneness. Add peas about 1 hour before serving.


Servings: 8

anything with the word crockpot in the recipe is a good one..LOL

I have made a version of this for venison also. Yummy.

It's 2 teaspoons of tapioca not Tablespoons. It helps thicken the broth. Sometimes I add it and sometimes I don't.

Right now I'm having a bad flare up of carpel tunnel from canning pears. If I went hunting it would set me back quite a bit.

That's not a good thing. Hope it gets better. My mother had that.

I'm a woman and I hunt deer. So does my DD. She also hunts turkeys not me. To hard to hit.
We try to be self sufficient so we don't have to depend on someone to get us one.
You can use beef instead. We just like deer.
