Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

Okay, new subject...the weather conditions tonight are perfect (really low temp and the right humidity level) to create a phenomena where outdoor lights that shine light upwards generate a "pillar" of light that almost looks like a flame (doesn't move, though).

Across the valley on the ridgeline, there are 6 or so lights that are doing this. It's really beautiful.

So the single digit temps aren't all that bad.

When I lived up north, nights like tonight gave us wonderful northern light, or aurora borealis. Of course, it was always bett ir it weren't a full moon out there, is it stil full tonight? (havn'e been out since dusk.)

Im shivering right now...I need something hot.

When it gets really, really cold, the air sparkles! At about -40, if I remember correctly. The temp that makes your nostrils sting and freeze shut. This happened a lot when I was a kid and heading out to do chores at 5 AM in the winter up North.

Hi Wannabefree! :frow

HEY!!!!!! You wanna be ME????? I'm so flattered! :lau :gig

Thanks, Jamie, I actually never opened that thread, even once. I knew better.

Yep, life sure is easy when the animals WANT to be with you and are respectful. I have the opposite, though, I knew horse speak but when I got my first dog, he threw me for a loop, as carnivore speak is very different from herbivore speak! And I got a dog that was way smarter than I am..... :P
What about those of us who settle for speaking "chicken"? :D

I miss being around cattle. In Jr High, I helped raise two heifers from birth on my Grandpa's farm. Even when they had babies of their own, they were like pet dogs for me....

Not quite full, had a beautiful moonrise tonight.

About 8 years or so, here in NE Ohio we could see the Northern Lights in midwinter for a few nights. Simply breathtaking. The cycle of solar activity is on the upswing in the 11 year cycle, so I'm hoping for more soon!!! see www.spaceweather.com for daily predictions.

I couldn't believe that thread lasted as long as it did hahaha. They yanked it after we finally all agreed on the point too.

*sniggers*

I don't recall having ever been colder than -20. Colorado rarely gets lower than -10 :D

But it IS gorgeous that cold. *love*

The only minus about this state is the clay soil and therefore difficulty growing foods.

We grow LOVELY cows though.

For work, I visit the 'Springs once a year or so. Great place to visit, too brown vegatation-wise for my tastes - I'm a flat-lander.
