That looks like a ratsnake?
Yep, and would have been okay IF it would have stayed out of my eggs :/ Hated to kill it :(

*shiver* :P

Speaking of eggs, we got a rubbery shelled egg today. It's really cool, DS wants to take it to school tomorrow for science class. (his teacher is an ex-coworker of mine and she is intrigued by us having chickens).

Did you see the picture of my poor bean sprout?

Didn't see your bean sprout...not sure how I missed it :hu

Rubbery eggs are funny, toss them back and forth to see who it breaks on LOL! I chunked one at DD one day and told her catch! I know...I'm mean...country entertainment is runnin slim at times :hide (She thought it was funny too)

Yep. Oh, and I forget who said it on here, but I guess other snakes around here DO rattle their tails. this one did too. :hu I thought only copperheads and rattlers did. Oh well...dead snake either way, and I am glad!

I will never forget the look on my older son's face when he brought me the first rubbery egg we found when we first got chickens. If only I had had a camera ready, it would have been priceless. :lau

I hate snakes! They are so gross. Swing by my journal I have the new bator chicks and ducklings plus our new plants. We are finally getting caught up........ :D

i love snakes, i find them very interesting (not to mention the best rodent control ther is if you can keep them out of the coop lol)
i always found the mimicry interesting, some snakes rattle without the rattle, others flatten out to make them look like cobra or to give them that triangular pit viper head ect...

as long as they stay out of the chickens/eggs, and the venemous ones give me and my critters plenty of distance, were all cake...
i will kill them if they are eating eggs, chicks or a venemous one is too close for comfort and backing away is not going to work...
