Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

Heard about some tornado out that way. We had a tornado watch on Saturday...but all we got was some thunder boomers and rain. All my rain barrels are filled up, so the new stuff just gonna have to go to the well. Hmmmph.

There was a tornado in Alabama that killed 2 or that's the currrent death toll anyway :( We got a couple big limbs down here, nothing major. my neighbors son has a tree in his house now :/ It got rough out here, but everyone seems to be fine. The chickens went to squaking when the limbs came down and took about an hour for them to settle back in. TomTom was cussing it  I think they woke him :P

Case worker is NOT here yet!!! No call, nothing so far. I am wondering if she's coming.......I guess I should call her.

I see on the wunderground radar another one raking across the deep south. I went out and let the chickens into their "sports coop"....to play. It is cold wet and dreary outside right now. We need the rain fall, desperately. We were at 40" for all of last year. That is 8" under normal rainfall. I am thinking, we will prob have to do rain barrel living, the rest of our lives here on this one acre.

You'll get the rain, just be aware of the HEAVY winds that are coming with it. It was really rough with the gusts of wind up to 80 mph. We got a couple of those big gusts, which is what took out our tree limbs.

I am prob the trained one here on this one acre. I was born/raised in KCMO, spent 15 years after that in hurricane country, then went back and lived in KS for 13 more years. People in SC, that are from here, are petrified of any storms. I know when to run, where to seek cover, and nobody has basements here. Or tornado shelters. I have some spots on the home place here that I could get protection. But, they are outside.

The problem with here is visibility sucks. We have tall trees and big hills where KCMO is flatter at least, and not quite so many trees. I hate it worst at night when ya can't SEE what's coming at all...makes me nervous. Though we got enough lightning flashes last night it looked like noon outside on occassion  We have nearby shelters.

And I thought we had bad winds!! We're in for another round of 50-60 mph winds this afternoon with the added pleasure of rain! :th

Well, all the roads leading into KC, from the west...are flat. But KC itself is hills. My childhood home itself, sits on top of a hill. Going down to the plaza, I counted the building at the bottom of the 2 hills.....over 11 stories high. We still did all the tornado drills at school. I am not a flatlander. I love my hills.
