Nope...boiled in soup or raw in a slaw or baked as stuffed cabbage rolls or in a cassarole, or of course, KRAUT!!!!! :)

Hush puppies, grits, catfish, I love and see as Southern Food, but not fried cabbage.

Have you ever tried fried cabbage though? It's tasty :drool If you haven't you should at least once. I like it boiled too, but fried is a treat from time to time.
 
Fried Cabbage
Ingredients
2 Small Cabbage Heads
1 Cup of Water
1 TSP of Salt
1 TBSP of Sugar
Cup of Cooking Oil
1 TBSP of Butter
Pepper
First take the two small heads of cabbage and shred into your skillet. Then add a cup of water into your skillet. Third add a TSP of salt to your skillet and then add a TBSP of sugar to your skillet. Fourth add a cup of cooking oil to mixture and then add a TBSP of butter. Pepper to taste and simmer until cabbage is tender.

There ya go!

So you're really just boiling it in a smaller amount of water? Fried to me implies some, well "frying" :idunno
 
Chop cabbage. Prepare a cast iron skillet with enough bacon grease to coat the bottom(about a tablespoon), Then add a teaspoon of butter, and toss the cabbage in. You can add salt if you wish, but the bacon grease has enough for me ;) Then you just let it fry until it cooks down a good bit. It's delicious!!
