On this pleasant topic, I'm just about out for the night. The chiro treatment has caught up with me and I get to sit through a cultural awareness all-day training class tomorrow......

Cultural awareness....sounds distinctly similar to the joy one would get from shovelling elephant dung for 16 hours in the desert without water.... :/

I told one of my team where I was going (she is of one of the nationalities covered in the class) and she asked me if I was *teaching* the class!!! She thought the class was ridiculous. Gotta get the check mark, though.

Does anyone else find those classes really offensive?

Is Irish one of the nationalities? They should teach you to be sensitive about our national need to drink and bomb one another. *nod nod* I shan't rest comfortably til you have all learned to understand us.

They are so cliche and bigoted, the classes. You aren't a person. You are a race. And behave this way.

Abi and WZ he'd really be confused if they went to the trouble of doing every nationality.

Just mine alone would be confusing...the English/Indian parts would be fighting and the Irish/German side would have a beer sitting watching the brawl. The Polish wouldn't know what was going on and the rest of me....well who even knows what that is I'm 100% Heinz 57

It is a ridiculous concept for a class.

Today was fine.

Two things that get me through these sessions. First, I'm pretty open minded for a middle-aged white guy. It funny to watch coworkers stumble through the discussion. Second, I take it as a personal challenge to try to decipher the underlying mechanisms for the group exercises and help my partners figure it out as quickly as possible. I think I had a personal best today. 2 minutes into a 20 minute exercise I noodled out a solution for our table that eliminated the "problem" that was the heart of the exercise.

I am SOO ready to SCREAM!!!!!! I hate some days in this house...sometimes I just CANNOT cope. DD14 is on top of her know-it-all idiocy today and DH just thinks it's funny. I can't stand either of them right now! I hope she pops off some crazy smart alec crap to him in the near future then I can laugh like an idiot and egg her on instead of being supportive and telling her what a disrespectful spoiled rotten sack of bratiness she's being UGH!!!! and I'm sick still and feel like crap!

I need a hug and a vacation!!!!
