Okay, we've agreed on a few things:

- turn them into steers
- grow 'em until about 18 months old

18 months is a loooooong time. How big will they be at about 10? I can't handle two whole full grown steers minus what little bit of meat they want.

12-1500 ....times 2, nope couldn't handle that much I don't believe. well I know that is on the hoof and am thinking roughly 1/3 of that would be bones and etc. but STILL that is a lot of meat.

Yeah...veal. Either way though..to me beef is beef.

BIL raises Herefords. We split a 2 year old steer and total hanging weight was about 700 lbs. (350 each). We cut out the steaks, did like three rounds, and ground the rest.

It would be a lot of beef. You could start making your own dog food. Jerky. Hamburger. Steaks. You could sell some.

We raised Angus crosses. We fed them hay and a high protein grain ration.

That would pump them up, definitely. He did have one magnificent bull that dressed out at 1100 pounds. We had to cut him up in 1/8ths in order to process him. That was one tiring day.

If I had the facilities I would slaughter myself. I don't though, and it is being done cheap anyway
