Ours touched on that topic, but didn't really preach on that issue. He pretty much just laid it all on the line about the first chapter of Colosians. About how everyone struggles, and even then folks were having hard times within the church. Kind of made a parallel about then and now. It was interesting.
Another fine point made while talking with my neighbor yesterday(a pastor too) he said that the difference between the Old and New Testaments is Christ and our relationship with Him. In the Old Testament, God the Father chatted with folks, New Testament He had sent His Son not only to bridge the gap, but to bring us closer to Him. The only thing that had changed was Christ came and became the sacrifice for our sins. People still had problems. The Old Testament was written to the unsaved, the ones who had to sacrifice animals and be washed by their blood to absolve them of their sins. The New Testament is written directly to the church, the saved, the ones who had Jesus right in their midst, in the flesh, and still faltered under the weight of being human. How much more fortunate are we than the folks of the Old Testament?! We have the completed edition instruction manual, they didn't. We have the ultimate sacrifice to fall back on when we stumble and fail, they...had to sacrifice animals from their flocks. How would we be able to handle that today? I have several flocks of varying animals on my little farm..I'd hate to have to sacrifice them, and as often as the folks in the OT did. Whew! Thank God for Jesus!!!!!!!! My best friend that sticks closer than a brother!!

Thankful, is an understatement
I got my reset button, as I said before. Perspective has been altered, heart has been softened, and my faith renewed! I needed that!
