I can handle a little that's fried, but you guys must have been raised with it. I never could aquire a taste for it, nor for fried green tomatoes, either.

But since you love it, I hope you have a bumper crop! I'll take your extra cukes.

I can't get enough okra saved up to do anything with. The kids pick it off and eat it right in the garden!

It's too late for your area to produce well. I'd be tempted to give it a shot anyway though considering how dang HOT this summer has been already, you could get some at least, but it may die out early I'd SOooo try it though

I just got finished with 3 quarts of refridgerator pickles and refilling the dehydrator! Now I have to clean off my desk and get busy in this stankin house I'm procrastinating for the next 30 minutes or so though

Around here I typically plant around Memorial Day and the okra will sprout and stall. It usually doesn't jump up until July. Hmm. I may clear a spot and try. If I can find time! That's why it never got done before now. :/

If it grow ANYTHING like it does HERE....just about 10 plants should be enough to get a good bit of okra. We're going to be overloaded

It freezes well. Frozen isn't the best for fried okra, but it goes well in veggie soup.

I fry frozen and it's GREAT Just when you chop it to freeze, use a cookie sheet and do one layer, then pop it into ziploc bags. It shouldn't stick together so when you get ready to fry it, there it be Occassionally I do get a clump formed in the bottom, but I save that for soups instead of freezing any intentionally for soups. DH would DIE, we're talking curl up and croak, if he couldn't have fried okra at least 10 times in the winter I think it's the only way he survives till the next crop!
