OI! The bear was just the beginning today. He has been such a weasel pranking me all day He is funny. It's nice when times get crazy to know that there is someone to make ya laugh. We've been hauling scrap today, and I am in the process of making my first cheddar cheese this morning. He has drove me nutters 
I think the recycling place ripped us off on that last load :/ No way to prove it though. Dang people, here I am trying to pay my house payment this month and they wanna mess with me. Anyway...going to take another load shortly, just came in for lunch break and about to go back out again. Boy is it ever muggy as crap here!! I hope everyone is having a great day, I am

Oh yeah...shoot..my cheese question. For those who do hard cheeses, how long does it take usually to get a "clean break?" Mine has been at it since 9 this morning and still not a clean break in the curd. That means it has been 3 hours already
Should I give it another hour or two or is something wrong? I used cultured buttermilk to innoculate, and let it sit out overnight after warming it to 68 degrees. I am using fresh Jersey milk loaded with heavy cream. I used one rennet tablet as it called for and I followed directions. I read one book says it could take 3 hours. But more? Can it take more to reach the point of a clean break?

Yep! We didn't get to do the last load. It POURED rain just as we were about to leave...WHILE we were in the garden cutting okra. We both looked like drowned rats, but it was fun, and we cooled off quick. It amazes me how cold a summer rain can be!!!

Well I am dry now, and the rain has moved out, and the cheese is still not cheesy, so I am going to haul this last load on out of here. Maybe I can make enough this week to finish out the house payment

I'm a FULL time "Scrapper"...well almost full time I still wear a few other hats as well though
I am the new proud co-owner of several very large pieces of non working farm equipment. Mostly steel, and mostly at the best possible time in recent history when steel is on the rise value wise for scrap metal. Go figure...all my worrying about how we were gonna make ends meet with hubs not working was just to have a worry I suppose. God must think I'm entertaining...He hasn't kicked me in the head yet, so that has to be it
So for some reason...DH's uncle's truck broke down Sunday
and for some reason...he wanted me to take him to get something out of it
and for some reason...conversation turned to finances/politics
and for some reason...I mentioned we were scrapping by hauling scrap off our property
and for some reason...he thought it was a good idea to get me to clean up his property(adjoining ours)while I'm at it
and for some reason...I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea
Next thing I know, while taking him to pick up said broken truck from the shop today...for some reason...the man decides we need two dozers, a combine, a couple tractors, A CRANE
, and a load of rebar and assorted other "junk" that has trees growing through it behind our house just across the property line I am more than happy to help considering scrap steel is at $14/100 lb. right now That means we can get back on our feet over the next few months of getting it all out of here, and we get a CLEAN fresh start on getting the back side of our little plot in order next Spring. I AM ECSTATIC ABOUT ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! 
I know several folks on here have been praying for our situation, and I very humbly thank you all. God works in mysterious ways, and sends friends and support from all different directions. I am very very thankful for this opportunity to get things together and even more thankful for the support from a few good friends
