Never dealt with the potatoe beetle. The corn earworm...after the ears are pollinated you can rub mineral oil into the silks and just down into the top of the ear to keep them out until the corn matures. Be careful though, if you do it too early the ears will be sparse because of lack of pollination.

Be glad you haven't dealt with them. They are a pain. Thanks for that info on the worm!

No problem It's the only thing I know to keep the nasty little buggers at bay! Nothing else seems to work, but they hate the oil!

Sweet potatoes, hands down super easy. We never usually have trouble with them, one of the more dependable crops. I'm not sure on natural fertilizers. We usually don't have any pests with them either. Plants are not hard to grow yourself....any specific information?

Well i have just a few slips I started myself, but they have no roots yet, just some vine/greenery. When to plant? How deep to plant? how many to expect from each vine/plant in pounds of taters? Do they like shade at all? Just a few questions

I think it is two weeks after last frost date. Fairly deep 3 to 4 inches I believe, and you hill them later on. I don't know how much per vine. But I know that we have hefty producers, and the white ones usually out do the red and orange ones.

Well I have the orange ones, and I was just curious. Figured I might as well try them since they were kind enough to sprout for me
