Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

You got to love the jeckle and hyde of teenagers! My dd was joking with me the other day having fun and like a swich flipped she was a "teen" again. Gives me whipflash sometimes. But on a good note- you do eventualy become smart again! And they ask for advice and how you do this and that.

ah sweet sweet success!!!! I got peppers put away while DD finished weeding the garden. I had 6 kids over here, and managed to delegate a little assistance here and there. The twins were CRAZY while they were here though, so they slowed me down a little. BUT, tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers are done! I made a BUNCH of jalapeno poppers to freeze for later, and DH has enough to eat fresh for a few weeks still. My hands are on fire  I used gloves part of the time :hu I'll have to wash with vinegar here shortly to get the burn off. Here's a pic of the poppers :drool

They HAD to come help, and play in the tree house, and eat all my frozen yogurt, and gather eggs...

We played in the yard for a bit, killed a chicken snake about 4 ft long out there today too. Also, on a sad note today, one of the baby duckies drowned in the waterer either last night or early this morning sometime. We found him when we went out to feed. :(

Anyway...it was a good day all in all. I hope everyone else has had a good one!

Wow on the jalapenos, and hot hands STINK and HURT :P !!! Cute kids as well, and sorry on the duckling!!! It stinks, I have been there.

If your hands burn you can apply vinegar to stop the burn.

I wound up with 6 quarts pickled peppers, and a TON of poppers. I got 17 quarts of tomatoes, and 6 salsa. 41 quarts of potatoes :D I am SO happy to get going on the canning this year already! A jump start has me in a good mood. I love shelves filling up this early :) I do need lots more jars though. LOTS more!

We need more too, and yes I love that pre season canning feeling always excellent :D Bye, I must retire!! :frow

I love the photos of you and the little ones! Great job on all the canning! I do look forward to a garden but I am thinking it will be a fall one.

What do you put in your poppers, WBF? Are they for eating fresh or for baking up? My favorites are the eating fresh ones. I won quite a few bets as a bartender, eating fresh poppers :D

Nice pictures of you and the tornadoes, I mean twins  Now I can put a face to you posts. Geesh, you are strong as an ox and pretty too! I don't EVER have my picture taken, so I will describe myself for you: When you picture Other Cindi, picture a full grown mama hippo, with her mouth wide open, and a shaggy mop of red hair on top. That'd be me :lau

:lau Other Cindi, you are beautiful, lady!! I love your bubbly personality and kind spirit :hugs THAT is what matters ;)

The tornadoes are adorable aren't they :) They're a mess for sure

I/we eat the poppers fresh and frozen, so we had a lot of them yesterday and I am freezing a lot more for later. DH and the neighbor loves them, well...and DD all of a sudden, so we'll be making several dozen of those yet. I have a few pounds of peppers left to slice and prep and freeze. That's what i'll be doing today since I have a day off from hauling stuff, though i did just haul 1200 more pounds of steel before the yard closed ;) The rest of the day is MINE and I intend on using it wisely. DD is working in the garden, by choice, without being asked, sooooo....if the world isn't ending I will be making pepper poppers :P

On another note. The crane counterweight is packed with punchout. That is small round pieces of steel, rather than a solid core for weight. So, we can haul quite a bit without using any fuel for the next little while. A 5 gallon bucket full is 150 pounds. I took 8 buckets today. And that is not even close to knocking much of a dent in it. That counterweight is massive, and there is another 3x4 foot section of it we haven't accessed yet that is hollow and packed with punchout too :D This coming week will be much easier, much faster, and MUCH better :woot The only bad aspect is I have to unload by hand because the magnet will pick up everything and I need my buckets :P Still though, I am thankful!
