water kefir disaster! Help!

It has turned into a strange thick syrup this time.
And the grains look like they are disappearing.

What to do?
 
What type of sugar were you using? I have never had that happen. It is said that if you use honey, the antibacterial properties of the honey can kill the grains. for kombucha too.
