I got my very own flock this year, raised them by myself, didnt loose one (almost lost one after it got its head stuck in the feeder, my mom stuffed the chick down her bra and it lived.)

Learned how to my feed my chicks sustainably and healthy

Learned how to ferment, even though im currently NOT doing any SS food stuffs

Went through a huge learning curve with my rabbits

Cant wait for next year!! Quail are on the list!!

*Started ballroom

*Didn't get fired for another year running!!! WOOT! 2 is a record for me >.>

*Made an effort with dad-relationship

*Improved cooking and techniques therein

*Managed a year living on my own with money left over in savings

Got some new chicks in the Spring to bring the flock back up from "the neighbour's dog inciidents"

Built a new new coop and run, by myself and post foot surgery, when it turned out that the new rooster wanted to murder one of the older hens

Learned that I can indeed, when necessary, chop the head off a (pet) chicken when she is *in extremis* after prolapsing, which makes me think that maybe I could do meat chickens at some point in the future

Got a grain mill, and showed my DH that whole grains are not terrible

Finally got my foot surgery so that I can walk without pain

I love this thread!!! So inspiring for 2011.

- I added a TON of books to my SS library.
- Started looking at ONLY heirloom seeds.
-Tried to make cheese  got a book for Christmas so next time it will actually be cheese.
- Raised more chicks and added them to our flock.
- Let a broody hen hatch 7 chicks ( only 2 left tho and lost the hen :( ), will try that again if I get another broody one
- planted high bush blueberries (yum!), raspberries and a cherry tree
- GREENHOUSE!!! DH built me an awesome one.
- Grew a second garden in the front yard and plan to expand that
- Grew wheat! in Maine!
- got a wheat grinder
- dehydrated stuff
- canned stuf (my first try!)
- planted garlic for next year instead of waiting until spring for the first time
- found this forum :D

I want goats too! Nigerian dwarfs  !

Had my first vegetable garden in years - some things didn't do well at all, but my 'maters were awesome!

Started a compost

Learned to bake bread

Stepped up my canning

Did not buy any paper towels, paper napkins or laundry detergent

Stepped up "cooking from scratch" - did not buy any convenience foods!

Did a LOT of reading and research for future SS attempts (and found this great forum!), mainly meat rabbits and chickens

Cut spending to "necessities" only, debt-free except for our mortgage

Got hubby on board 100%

#1 Goal for 2011 - move permanently to our property!
