What did you do in your orchard today?

Just mowed the orchard and created a midwest lawn emergency. Everyone within ear shot of the mower has 24 hours to respond. I noticed the furthest newly planted apple tree needed water so I walk across the orchard with a mop bucket of water and a little fertlizer mixed in. My neighbors wife saw me and probably thought I done went plum nutty... maybe I just created a two alarm midwest lawn emergency... mow your lawn and water your plants.

It's normal for here plus it was much needed moisture in this extra dry year. Most of the snow was melted by the end of the day.

We cut down an old apple tree. The main trunk was leaning, about 7" diameter, and had exactly ONE limb on it. Hubs planted a new type of apple to us, about 2 ft away from it. I need to look at the tag to remember the name.

You might remember the wild mulberry we dug up last March and split into three separate trees. Tank and I grafted the smaller tree I potted with five different mulberry varieties, and some of the scions are just starting to break bud now. My buddy in middle Tennessee sent me the scions, and while I wasn't sure exactly how to graft them, I just enjoyed the practice with something different. Since mulberry is soft wood with a hollow pith, it was a bit different, but I did my best with them. IDK... if they all take a 6 variety mulberry tree might be a novelty or science experiment as farmbabe calls the trees I multi graft.
