What did you do to save $ today?

Got six more tops at Good Will. Two turtlenecks (plan on purging my sweater drawer when it warms up and I can stop wearing them!) and four tshirt/tank type tops for work. Two were a color I've been looking for as I have a couple of skirts that I haven't worn much because I needed a burgundy top and that dark color is hard to find in a summer top. Yay! The turtlenecks were $3 each and the summer tops were $2 each. When they get stained from the massage oil, I'll toss them without regret. I'm so glad I got over my ego and started going in to shop, not just to donate.

I have honestly found GREAT clothes at the Goodwill and similar stores. You just have to go in without expectations. You can't say, "I'm going in today to buy a pair of black work slacks." because there usually will not be.

But there will be a perfect coat, or a great top, or something for a family member. But not the black work slacks.

I like checking out their used books as well.

Funny thing that you guys are talking about Goodwill. I took a large box of stuff in today and while I was walking out I passed the used shoe rack as usual. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a very large pair of men's rubber boots. As I inspected them I noticed that they are my size (14) and that they are brand new lace-up and insulated. The kind with leather upper and rubber lower. Perfect. As I was checking out the cashier said that today is half price for seniors day. $5.00
Wow!

I got my muck boots that way, too. They were not five dollars, but I know they were a very expensive pair when I saw them new at the feed store and the pair I got were just my size and in perfect shape.

I braved the drugstore game today at CVS. Ended up getting $15 "extra bucks" that I can use next time I shop. Woot!

We did our own taxes online again this year..and survived! Just went to the IRS site, and our state site - both are free.
And they let you know if you made a mistake (you correct and then submit again), so you can't wait until the final minute to do them. Took DH a while to understand that they weren't going to come out here and throw him in jail if we goofed somewhere.

We just followed along with what was done by the tax guy two years ago. He charged us $140 that year, so by doing them ourselves, I figure we saved $150 this year.

Cool thing last year was that the IRS and State sent us a form saying that we qualified for some other credit. We filled out the forms and got checks in the mail!

We have all kinds of extra forms, schedules, 1099's, etc. But these sites have a 'do the math' button, so that part is easy. There's also a button for the instructions for each form. Everything else is just one step at a time.

I finally got my panties unbunched, too. Hate tax time.

Instead of buying meatballs, I made them. And, I made enough for 2 meals. So, we're having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner!
