Finished digging the last of five holes for my windturbine and anchors points. 4x4x4; not convinced it was worth it, but it was too expensive for a small backhoe so my back did it.
Went to a farm consignment auction today, I guess at this point yesterday, and spent too much money but saved a boat load on a good plough, seasoned hardwood lumber; 70- 2x8x10 oak planks for $50.00, 180 ft and all the trimmings + gate of 4 ft chainlink fence $120.00 (more winter pig pens), 80 heavy duty 8 ft steel pound in T-posts for $1.00 each, 80 heavy duty homemade 4 ft step/hammer in steel posts complete with 3 insulators each and goodness knows how many feet of electric rope for $80.00 (pastured piggies here we come), 150 ft of chicken wire for $20.00, 14 12' diameter top quality cedar logs good for cutting into cedar boards only $6.00 each, an 8x4 heavy duty steel and plank utility trailer with brand new tires for $100.00, a brand new super duper Speedrite 9800 fence charger for $70.00, a whole mess of garden shovels, rakes, and other goodies for $20.00, and just when the last item went up for sale and I thought I was safe, I bought it for $50.00. It is an 8x12 camper trailer. Can any one say cheap mobile chicken coop for the pasture if it proves too expensive to fancy up for human use? It even had a double size crocheted blanket in it when I looked in there after I bought it. I am pretty sure that with some seam caulking and some rubber paint on the roof, it will be good to go. All the lights work and the axle is good. Came with a 20lb bottle of propane as well.
Did I say that was the last item? Wrong. As I was waiting to get to my pile of logs ect.. to load up, I watched them unloading a big truck for their next sale on monday. Right at the back was a 6 month old washer and dryer set that I was going to buy at Lowes. I made a joke to the auctioner that he should just save time and sell them to me now. He asked how much. I said $200.00 still thinking it was a joke. He phoned the executer of the estate and they said ok. SCORE! So now I can stay far away from any more auctions, stay home and put in all that fencing.
For icing on the cake I then sold the auctioner 4 black angus yearlings (my scrubby ones) and got a goodly chunk of my money back. He's coming to get them tomorrow so I don't have to pay for them to go to the cattle auction next week.
