A week ago So had the opportunity to shoot some turkey and got one. We cleaned the hen and she was just over 9 lbs. SO had used his new crossbow. The person whose property he hunted on was very pleased and has asked him to come back. The turkeys are roosting in his trees and are making one he!! of a mess.
For thanksgiving we tried to use as much home grown and or homemade produce as possible. The wild turkey came out great. I made cornbread using our corn. We had lots of carrots from the garden among other things. The parts of the turkey that we do not care for are being made into dog food. Today I will be making turkey soup.
Yesterday was DD's wedding. We used pumpkins from our garden for decor. It was an outdoor wedding in a local park. It was a good thing we used the pumpkins, because there were some fierce wind gusts and the pumpkins held down the tablecloths

DD also saved money on her wedding dress by doing the alterations herself with the help of a friend and myself. It turned out beautifull.
By the way the reservation for the space in the park was $44.00. Can't beat that. Another friend is a minister and performed the ceremony. The wife of a coworker made the wedding cake at cost. Her stepbrother was the photographer, a friend of her father's played the guitar for the music part.
With the help of family and friends, we had a wonderfull wedding at under $1000.00, the budget the couple had set for themselves.
