What goes bump in the night?

I heard the trap go off around 03:00am this time. Got up and checked this morning and found no mouse in it, which was a first, these traps are quite deadly. Mystery solved when I went downstairs and found a dead mouse on the floor in the lounge/kitchen.

I really hope we're going to run out of mice soon.

I heard another mouse in the wall this evening  or should that be :he

The worst is when one dies in a wall. The stink lasts for about a week!

We had mice and rats in our 2007 double wide. We did traps, poison to no avail. Finally hired Terminix to crawl under the house and plug all the openings. No more rats and mice!

They can get in through a tiny opening and chew very well to make them! Old or new houses. Plus...so, so fertile.

Google:
The gestation period is about 19–21 days, and they give birth to a litter of 3–14 young (average six to eight). One female can have 5 to 10 litters per year, so the mouse population can increase very quickly. Estrus begins 24 hrs after giving birth! At 6 weeks old, the female house mouse is sexually mature and ready to start breeding.

When I was a kid the science teacher sent a mouse pair home with my sister as an experiment. After 60 days the mice went from 2 to 60. They were interesting in that they all laid their babies in the same place and the original grandma mouse stayed with all the babies while their mothers ran all over the cage. They kept me awake all night with their squeaking and playing all night long. I was so glad when she took them all back to school.

I'm thinking...chickens 21 days to hatch. Shame they can't be laying in 6 weeks, vice 6 months. :p

Yep, those little rascals can multiply at the speed of light. They even have the rabbits beat. No wonder they're always hungry.

They have to be fast at reproducing since nearly every predator out there will catch and eat mice. Even herbivores will stomp on them if they can. They must have the strongest hearts; they don't die of heart attacks from all the stress.

A friend of mine had a couple of cats, and once she found them both on the bed- one proudly holding a dead mouse by the tail... which still had the trap attached at the other end. The other cat was looking at the first cat with the most puzzled look on his face, lol.
